Soomaal House of Art
Soomaal House of Art is a collective of Somali visual artists in Minnesota whose aim is to mentor emerging Somali visual artists, exhibit their work and connect them with the larger Somali artists around the world. As a co-founder and designer of the collective, I was responsible for the branding of the collective including the website and all the secondary programs.
The identity of Soomaal is based on the entrance of a mudul or Somali mud hut. Muduls have very rounded shapes save for their doors, which are very edgy and straightforward. The identity is also symbolically driven from the look of a house/hut on par with the collective's name.
